By the powers of TextMate... I HAVE THE POWER!!!!!

PROTIP: If you have a Mac with TextMate installed and a happen across a corrupted Microsoft Word document that won’t open in MS Office or iWork (or in this case a document that was mistakenly saved in the Word ‘97 format), drag that thing into TextMate, scroll past the glyph garbage, and copy-paste the raw text into a new file.

Don’t, for the love of God, don’t drag it into TextEdit, because that will hang your Mac, making you do a Force Quit on TextEdit which will kickstart a runaway syslogd process.
